What I’m about to suggest may seem a little controversial to some. However, my heart is so burdened for those who are blinded by the enemy of this world, that I cannot keep silent. Will you pray with me that God would lift the blindness from more workers at Planned Parenthood?
We may faithfully seek to enlighten the world to the tragedy. I’m speaking of the heartbreak and outright violence of abortion against women and the unborn. But those caught in the middle, the workers at Planned Parenthood, are often left behind. They are left believing we view them as our enemy. (This is not the case).
While the Bible does teach that all of us are at one time enemies of God, it also says that precisely while we were His enemies, God poured out His deepest love for us through Christ on the Cross. Those working at Planned Parenthood are also created in the image of God. Christ died for them, too. Therefore, we must preach the Good News to them also.
The Bible makes it clear that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of darkness and the ruler of this world, who is Satan. (Ephesians 6:12) It should not surprise us that the horrors of abortion and other atrocities plague our world. The vast majority of people in the world do not know the Lord Jesus. As such, they either do not see or chose to ignore their sin. Worse, they are powerless to change without a supernatural act of God.
Please know that I’m not referring to those who, after hearing the Truth, still choose to reject it. They have made their decision and for them it will be “a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Rest assured, God will demand an account for every heartbeat lost to abortion. However, I’m speaking of those who have not heard that there is a Savoir. The One Who loves them and died for them. (Growing up in a Christian nation is not the same as personally hearing the salvation message). So in one sense, for those clinic workers who would embrace the Truth if someone were to share it with them, we owe it to our Lord to pray for them. We must share the Good News for He shed His own blood for them as well.
By God’s grace, we who belong to Him are aware of the enemy who exploits unbelievers for his evil purposes, but they are not. This is why I am so thrilled whenever I hear of workers leaving the abortion industry. (And there are many!) Very often, they reveal that someone prayed with them and shared Christ’s love with them. It is also why we must pray diligently whenever a Christ-honoring pregnancy center moves into Planned Parenthood ‘territory.’ The enemy, who is Satan, hates seeing lives saved, women and men spared the trauma and heartbreak of abortion, and the eyes of his workforce being opened to the Truth.
As Christians, we must continue to proclaim the truth regarding the tragedy and heartbreak of abortion. (Even more and more as The Day draws near.) However, let’s be sure to always remember that at one time each of us also lived in blindness and slavery to the enemy. Only now that our eyes are opened can we praise God for His mercy. We know that is was His great mercy that took away our blindness and set us free. And now we must preach the Good News to those who are still perishing. When I consider my own past and the abortion I underwent, I can only look at those still held captive to Satan’s agenda and fall to my knees crying out, “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”
Pray with me for the workers at Planned Parenthood. Only God knows those who will respond to His call. Yet as we pray, let us also be mindful of Paul’s words in Romans 10.
“But how can people call on someone if they have not believed in him? And how can they believe in him if they have not heard about him? And how can they hear about him if no one tells them about him?”
I thank you, Father in Heaven, for sending one of your servants to share the good news of Christ’s love for me for I know that one day, you will demand an account for every heartbeat lost to abortion.
