You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14 Years ago, I was given a stylish black leather jacket. Often when wearing it, someone compliments it and asks the name of the designer. “I don’t know,” I reply honestly, “but it is one of a kind.”

A few years back, I knew someone worked in designer fashions in New York City. After each fashion show, all of the samples that didn’t sell were  given away, but only after the labels were removed. My jacket was one of those samples—and it was a perfect fit! The fact that it is one of a kind seems to add to its appeal. After all, there’s none other like it.

This caused me to ponder something. If we are naturally drawn to something merely because it is a one of a kind, imagine the attraction God has to each living person he custom-designed for His own purposes.

Today, we now know that every person has a unique fingerprint, even identical twins! But recently I discovered that every human being also has a unique voice pattern and eye color. If you’re like me, I guessed eye color came in blue, green, brown and hazel, with minimal variations. It turns out that the DNA for eye color is unique for every single person on the planet! The same is true for our voice pattern.

The psalmist declares, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:14)

Not only are we each a one of a kind custom-designed by the Master Designer Himself, God is equally drawn to, and desires to express His love, to each one of us. Every life is precious to God. So when God reaches out to you, consider this: from His perspective, a relationship with you simply has no substitute.

“Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8) “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!” (Psalm 139:17)
